Our ancestral spirituality was never destroyed nor was it forgotten-It lives in the body. And the body knows how to return to it.

  This is Tafi Atome — a sacred grove in the Volta Region, home to the Mona monkeys and the Ewe people-who carried their sacred knowing into this forest 200 years ago.

The covenant between the people and the monkeys has held ever since.

Attempts were made to erase it. 

The community reclaimed it. What was meant to be erased — survived-because it was never outside of them. It was always within.

Every single time I walk into this forest something in me returns. 

Not to a memory-to myself.

The laughter comes before the thought. The joy arrives before the understanding.

The inner child — the part of you that existed before the world told you who to be — wakes up.

The monkeys don't ask who you are. They already know.

That is the return. Not to a place-To yourself.

To the core of who you have always been.
