For years I trekked through Ghana in the most comfortable shoes I owned. When I lost them I replaced them. When those wore out I settled. I changed where I walked. I changed how I moved.

All to hold onto something I thought was carrying my comfort.

It wasn't.

Comfort never left. I just kept giving my loyalty to the things that held it temporarily — the shoes, the situations, the people, the beliefs — as if they were the source. They never were.
